If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence. The doctor will inform you about the medications that you can take prior to treatment that will minimize a recurrence.
One week prior to your treatment with Juvederm®, avoid taking St. John's Wort, high doses of Vitamin E supplements, aspirin, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as Ibuprofen. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
Following the injections swelling and redness may be present at the injection site. The area may be sensitive to the touch and may also be slightly bruised. All of these reactions should subside within 48 hours.
